Ontario University Championships hosted by Nipissing University

Ontario University skiing is alive and well in Ontario.   The Ontario University Championships were held in North Bay hosted by Nipissing University in conjunction with an Ontario Cup.  Here is the lowdown!

  • 10 schools represented: Carleton, U Ottawa, U Waterloo, U of Toronto, U of Guelph, Algoma U, Nipissing, Laurentian, Lakehead U, Queens
  • 51 men and 41 women competed in 3 days of racing
  • 13 women’s and 17 men’s teams hit the start line for a 3 X 3.75km relay
  • Carleton Women won their 4th consecutive OUA Championship
  • Lakehead Men won their 2nd consecutive OUA Championship
  • 5 athletes who competed at the OUA Championships will be representing Canada at the FISU Games

FYI: Athletes competing in the Canadian Colleges and Universities National Championships March 13-20 at the Ski Nationals in Gatineau require a CCC race license. Apply here

Weather for OCup #3 – 3rd update

The Environment Canada weather forecast for the Greater Sudbury area  indicates -20 C for Saturday, Jan 19 and the race will go ahead.  We are cautiously optimistic as local temperatures at Walden are typically 2 degrees warmer.

Start time for Saturday has been pushed back to 1pm.   A final decision will be made race day on site based on actual temperatures and will follow cold temperature guidelines as per the Canadian Competition Rules (CCR) (page 80). 

 

Mini-midget races are cancelled for Saturday and partial refunds will be available.

NOD Athlete Race Support for 2018/19 Season

Are you an NOD athlete who wants to go to an Ontario Cup race or Nationals, but you don’t have a coach willing to go?  Or maybe your club doesn’t have a wax technician?  The NOD has an NOD team with a coach and wax technicians willing to help you.

The deadline to apply to be supported by the NOD team at a race this season is Dec 15, 2018.
