Cross Country Ski Ontario is committed to offering quality race opportunities for Ontario skiers. In May/June 2017, the High Performance Committee (HPC) reviewed the national and provincial race calendar. A number of factors became evident:
The HPC viewed the calendar constraints this season as an opportunity to explore all options available for quality race opportunities for our racers. With that, the HPC moved forward with the plan to hold an ON Cup points race in conjunction with the World Jr/U23 Trials to be held Jan 6-10 in MSA.
Races for Juvenile & Junior Boy/Girl at OCup#1/World Jr/U23 Trials in Mont Ste Anne, QC will be as follows:
| Date | Technique | Format | ON Cup points race |
| Sat Jan 6 | Classic | Sprints | Yes |
| Sun Jan 7 | Classic | Interval | Yes |
| Mon Jan 8 | Free | Mass | No |
Please note the free technique mass start race on Monday, January 8th will not be an ON points or QC points race. The Local Organizing Committee will be hosting this CCC sanctioned CPL race as an additional race opportunity for juvenile and junior boy/girls. We encourage coaches and athletes to consider this race if developmentally appropriate.
Open categories will follow the CCC published schedule.
The 2018 Easterns Organizing Committee strongly recommends that you book your hotel rooms early for the event that will be held February 2 to 4, 2018. The Gatineau-Ottawa region is busy during that period of the year. You can find a list of preferred accommodation at http://cecski.ca/accomodation/.
Please be advised that Ontario Cup #2 will now be hosted by Walden Cross Country Fitness Club. Ontario Cup #2 was originally scheduled to be hosted by Highlands Trailblazers at Highlands Nordic and due to a scheduling conflict, the facility is unable to host the event. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please direct any questions to [email protected]. More details will be posted shortly.

In 2016/2017, the Ontario High Performance Committee completed a review of the ON competition categories, in particular Juvenile Boys. As reported last season, the juvenile boy category will be amended for the 2017/2018 competition season to include 2 YOBs (2002 & 2003) and Ontario team selection for juvenile boys will be the same as it currently is for juvenile girls.
