The City of Thunder Bay, Cross Country Ski Ontario and Lakehead Superior Nordic Association (Big Thunder and Lappe Nordic Ski Clubs) are excited to welcome selected athletes to the Lappe Ski Center for the 2024 Ontario Winter Games.

Race Formats:
Saturday: Free Technique Sprint Qualifier and District Relay
Sunday: 5 km Interval Start Classic
This event is open to selected athletes in YOB 2008-2009-2010.
Selection races were held in each district.

[ 10am ] Arrival – meet and greet everyone at the parking lot below the soccer field at Delki Dozzi in Sudbury.
The idea is to work with kids and coaches in a safe environment but in somewhat uncertain conditions. So we are inviting u14 to u18 aged skiers to join as well as any coaches to come and stay with the younger ones.
Gear required:
Please ask for stuff in advance if you don’t have something, we will try to bring that if you let us know
- Roller skis classic
- Ski boots
- Classic and walking poles
- Bike helmet
- High visibility attire, for example bright colored shirt
- Running shoes
- Shades
- 2 complete sets of clothing plus one dry outfit for going home in.
- Rain gear
- Lunch and snacks, you provide your own.
Objectives:
Connecting strength and power to better technique.

[10:30] Strength and power elements – on and off roller skis.
12:00] Lunch
Reflections on what strength exercise you find helpful improving your technical skill in striding and double poling
[12:30] Your technical change from low to high speed, capturing that on video.

XCSO Club Excellence Camps: a series of camps designed to provide training opportunities and exposure to a high performance training and learning environment for Ontario athletes and coaches.
Who: Open Camp for athletes 13 and older. Participants are expected to gauge their own suitability for the demands of the camp. Attending athletes under the age of 18 must be supported by a club coach. Ideally, the ratio of coaches/parents to athletes will be 1-5, where possible.
Attending coaches/parents are expected to be engaged and help support the delivery of the Excellence Camp.

- Mandatory attendance at one of the District Excellence Camp for athletes on the following teams:
- Team Ontario Development
- Ontario Junior Ski Team (OJST)
- Ontario Ski Team (OST)
