Thunder Bay, Thursday March 28, 2024

National Team Development Center – Thunder Bay (NTDC) and Cross Country Ski Ontario (XCSO) are excited to announce that, effective April 30, NTDC Thunder Bay will be operated by XCSO.

This strategic merger brings together the strengths, expertise, and resources of both organizations, paving the way for strong alignment and commitment to the long term viability of NTDC. For over 30 years, NTDC has offered a pathway for Ontario and Canadian athletes, coaches and technicians on their journey to achieving their personal goals, and as a conduit to the Canadian National Ski Team. By joining forces, we aim to align our programming, continue to provide an exceptional training environment, and offer athletes a place to call home in a truly supportive ski community that has early access to snow, a low cost of living, and great educational opportunities.

XCSO will bring additional resources to the training centre, including administrative support and governance capacity. The organizations will work together, and with athletes, to update the NTDC’s mission and vision. Clear objectives and measurable outcomes will align with athlete objectives, the XCSO strategic plan and the goals of Nordiq Canada for its training centers. NTDC will continue to be a leader in Canada in the development of high performance skiers.

Stéphane Barrette, CEO of Nordiq Canada, states: “Nordiq Canada is looking forward to working with XCSO and the NTDC throughout the 2024-2025 season and to building a strong and sustainable training centre model going forward.”

We will aim for a seamless transition, with a commitment to maintaining stability for current and prospective athletes. Our priority remains focused on delivering excellence and fostering success.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the success of both organizations thus far. Together, we embark on an exciting new chapter filled with opportunities.

Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this transformative journey together!
