UPDATE on Stage 1 of Ontario’s Re-opening
On May 19, 2020, the Government of Ontario provided more details on the phased in approach to re-opening Ontario and announced the extension of the current COVID-19 State of Emergency to May 29th, 2020.
As a provincial sport organization recognized by the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries (MHSTCI), Cross Country Ski Ontario and our member clubs are impacted by the latest information regarding the easing of restrictions due to COVID-19. We are currently consulting with the MHSTCI, Nordiq Canada and other sport partners for clarification and guidance on these impacts . We have developed a draft Return to Play Protocol, however, until we fully understand the parameters by which we can resume our activities and work to mitigate risks to our athletes and coaches, we ask that clubs and teams to continue maintain the status quo.
We thank all clubs, coaches and members for their patience and understanding as we all continue to navigate our new reality. The return to training will be done in phases and clubs should continue to consider how to best implement public health guidelines with respect to COVID-19 in your training environment. There will be a multi-level phased approach to get back to “regular” activity.
The choices each of us makes in the days ahead will be reflected in how the 2020/2021 season will unfold for the entire Ontario ski community. We encourage everyone to be mindful of that as we move forward.
Thank you!
