Important Notice: Ontario Cup #1 Race Update
Cross Country Ski Ontario is committed to offering quality race opportunities for Ontario skiers. In May/June 2017, the High Performance Committee (HPC) reviewed the national and provincial race calendar. A number of factors became evident:
- Lack of available sites with reliable snow and an interest to host an ON Cup before Christmas
- Canadian Nationals being held one week earlier than usual, thus reducing the number of available race weekends
- Ontario’s participation in the 2018 Ontario Winter Games, again reducing the number of available race weekends
- World Jr/U23 Trials being held in Eastern Canada in a location relatively accessible to most of Ontario the first weekend of January
The HPC viewed the calendar constraints this season as an opportunity to explore all options available for quality race opportunities for our racers. With that, the HPC moved forward with the plan to hold an ON Cup points race in conjunction with the World Jr/U23 Trials to be held Jan 6-10 in MSA.
Races for Juvenile & Junior Boy/Girl at OCup#1/World Jr/U23 Trials in Mont Ste Anne, QC will be as follows:
Date | Technique | Format | ON Cup points race |
Sat Jan 6 | Classic | Sprints | Yes |
Sun Jan 7 | Classic | Interval | Yes |
Mon Jan 8 | Free | Mass | No |
Please note the free technique mass start race on Monday, January 8th will not be an ON points or QC points race. The Local Organizing Committee will be hosting this CCC sanctioned CPL race as an additional race opportunity for juvenile and junior boy/girls. We encourage coaches and athletes to consider this race if developmentally appropriate.
Open categories will follow the CCC published schedule.
