Q4G Ontario Athlete Assistance Program

Congratulations to all athletes nominated to Nordiq Canada’s National Team Programs  – Olympic & PN.  The Q4G Ontario Athlete Assistance Program follows the Sport Canada nominations.  Athletes and coaches are encouraged to review the Q4G OAAP ranking list as per the Q4G criteria.  The force majeure deadline is Saturday, April 29 at noon.  Please note nominations for carding are not final until after the force majeure and appeal process is completed.

Athletes nominated for Q4G carding will receive an email with instructions on next steps. Questions should be directed to Bryan Dubeau or Liz Inkila.

2023-2024 Team Ontario Development Program

Team Ontario Development Program is indented to introduce athletes to high performance concepts and engage athletes in supplemental learning opportunities in nutrition, mental performance and technique.

  • Athletes YOB 2009-2000
  • Intend to purchase a 2023/24 Nordiq Canada racing license and participate in the 2023-24 race season
  • Be a member of a registered XCSO club

Athletes must submit their application via Zone4 HERE

Application will include:

  • Planned training goals and hours for the upcoming season
  • A copy of your Yearly Training Plan (YTP)
  • Online recommendation from your club coach

Application Deadline: Thursday June 1, 2023 with official team selection in early September.

XCSO Board of Directors – Call for Nominations

Cross Country Ski Ontario (XCSO) is seeking nominations to the Board of Directors.  We are looking for volunteers who are interested in making a difference at the provincial level.

This open call for nominations is your chance to help your provincial sport organization develop and grow!

If you are interested, please review our Call for Nominations for more information on the process, and how you could contribute.

Nominees must be members of XCSO clubs, or be eligible to become members of an XCSO club before taking office.

The election for the Board of Directors will take place at the 2023 Annual General Meeting of XCSO, Sunday, May 28, 2023.  Please check Annual General Meeting for more information as it becomes available.

2023-2024 Ontario Junior Ski Team (OJST)Nominations

We are pleased to nominate the following athletes to the 2023-2024 Ontario Junior Ski Team (OJST)!

Nomination Synopsis

Our aim is to be as inclusive as possible with the interpretation of criteria and nomination decisions. The Ontario Junior Ski Team (OJST) is a development focused team. Athletes nominated to this team must meet performance requirements of achieving a minimum average CPL in Sprint, Distance, or an average of Sprint/Distance. Athletes must also have competed in a minimum of 7 Ontario Cup starts. Additional discretionary nominations were given to those athletes meeting performance criteria who did not compete in the prerequisite number of Ontario Cup starts but who competed for Team Ontario at the 2023 Canada Winter Games.

Force Majeure

Appeals will be evaluated by the Nomination Committee. Force Majeure documentation must be submitted by email to admin@xcskiontario ca Sunday Apr 23, 2023 by 4pm EST.

Nomination Acceptance

Athletes must accept their nomination for the Ontario Junior Ski Team (OJST) by registering on Zone4 by May 1, 2023.

Additional Selection Requirements

Upon acceptance of your nomination/registration, athletes will be required to submit the following supporting documentation:

  • A copy of your YTP
  • Access to athletes training logs
  • Complete physical tests (Critical Speed & NC Strength) by July 3rd, 2023
  • Continued completion of your training logs

Nomination Synopsis

Our aim is to be as inclusive as possible with the interpretation of criteria and nomination decisions. The Ontario Ski Team (OST) is a high performance focused team. Athletes nominated to this team must meet performance requirements of achieving a minimum average CPL vs IPB threshold. Athletes must also have competed in the 2023 Ski National Championships or granted an exception. Additional discretionary nominations were given to those athletes meeting performance criteria who did not compete in the 2023 Ski National Championship but who competed for Team Ontario at the 2023 Canada Winter Games or 2023 World Championships.

Force Majeure

Appeals will be evaluated by the Nomination Committee. Force Majeure documentation must be submitted by email to admin@xcskiontario ca Sunday Apr 23, 2023 by 4pm EST.

2023-2024 Ontario Para-Nordic Ski Team Nominations

We are pleased to nominate the following athletes to the 2023-2024 Ontario Para-Nordic Ski Team!!

Nomination Synopsis

Our aim is to be as inclusive as possible with the interpretation of criteria and nomination decisions. Athletes nominated to the Ontario Para-Nordic Ski Team are representative of Ontario’s highest performing para athletes. Selection was made by taking the top athlete by PN CPL points in each gender and discipline.  Additional discretionary nominations were given to those athletes who competed for Team Ontario at the 2023 Canada Winter Games.

Walden tops the 2023 XCSO KM Challenge!

Walden Cross Country is the top club in the 2023 XCSO KM with 62 skiers logging their KM for a total of 17908.3 km skied.  In second is Highlands Trailblazers with 65 skiers logging 15159km.  Temiskaming Nordic rounded out the top 3 clubs with 38 skiers logging 9884 km.

Sara McIlraith contributed 1852 km to Walden’s total with Sian Leyshon of Highlands Trailblazers skiing 1274, and Jillian Daguerre of Porcupine Ski Runners skiing 1249km.
