Dryland Testing Camp

The purposes of this camp are to set benchmarks for training progress, and to establish technique cues in weight-lifting and roller-skiing.

Friday June 23rd

2pm: Meet at Nipissing University Athletics Building- 100 College Drive.

  • Camp meeting in Lower Boardroom
  • 3.1km uphill running test (varsity)
  • 1.2km uphill running test (U16 juniors)

Game

6pm: Team dinner at the Lake Nipissing waterfront – 225 Memorial Drive.

Saturday June 24th *Athletes to bring a lunch to practice or return to residence for lunch.

9am: Meet at Nipissing University Athletics Building- 100 College Drive.

Ski Erg Critical Power Test. (NB revised protocol: maximal efforts over 30 seconds, 2 minutes, and 4 minutes with 5 minutes recovery between intervals)

U16 skiers- double poling technique and 10 second sprints

Exercise Physiology Laboratory

2pm: Nipissing Athletics Weight Room.

Functional Movement Screening and Weight-lifting technique.

Sunday June 25th

9am: Meet outside Nipissing University Athletics Building- 100 College Drive.

  • Skate rollerskiing technique work.
  • Starting with activation and drills from parking lot #9 and finishing with College Drive repeats.

Noon camp departure from Nipissing Athletics Foyer

Camp Equipment

  • outdoor running shoes
  • indoor running shoes
  • skate rollerskis, poles, boots and helmet
  • water bottle and holder
  • snacks
  • rain jacket and hat

Camp cost: $75 including team meal on Friday evening

10 am Meet your peers in sport

10:10 am warmup jog and dynamic warmup

10:30 am movement skills

11:30 am movment skills on Roller skis

12:00 noon lunch, hang out with all

12:30 easy roller ski starts

1:30 pm U14 done for the day (suggested)

2:30 pm U16 done for the day (suggested)

3:00 pm U18 done

We have access to the rink in case of adverse weather

3:30 travel home

Our Annual Coaching Seminar is back!!!

Save the date: Fri eve, October 13 – Sun, October 15, 2023
We are excited to offer all coaches in Ontario a weekend of learning and sharing. We are using an Outdoor Education Center (Camp Kawartha: https://campkawartha.ca/) to provide an environment that is conducive to Building our Community. We will share best practices, integrate sessions with Para Nordic coaches and athletes, participate in outdoor team building activities that you can use with your own teams. Accommodations (cabin style) and Food (Saturday morning – Sunday lunch) provided.
We are planning the sessions now and will send out a schedule as soon as we can confirm topics and guest speakers. Registration will be on zone4.ca
